What connecting with people really means

Hello my friend, it’s Atharva here, yet again with another issue, but this time, the topic is a bit more interesting than you think.

Networking.

Connecting and networking with people on Twitter, or even outside of Twitter is a tough task, a genuinely TOUGH task, after a year on Twitter, I can confidently say this.

It can feel daunting at first, but once you realize the benefits of networking and having more people by your side, trust me, you will do it without any hassle, and make real connections.

So what is the secret sauce?

Here is my paid produc.. NAH

Joking, I was joking, I am gonna share all the secrets for free, and believe me, it’s not complicated at all, in fact, engaging meaningfully with people is the most fun thing you can do, and has the most ROI too.

Let’s dive in, and take a look at my formula for networking with new people:

1. Understand the core idea:

I get a lot of DMs with questions like this one: How to talk to people and avoid small talk? The answer is simple, Value.

You have to understand this, the basis of everything on this planet is value, you provide value, and you get value, think about this for a second. Literally, everything in your life is based on value, then why would networking be any different?

I will tell you a harsh truth, no one is going to be willing to talk to you if you don’t have anything valuable to provide.

Take yourself as an example, would you listen to a guy talking about networking who has no network? There is a reason why you opened this email and trust me that I have the knowledge to give, and value to provide.

That was long, but important, if you could take away only 1 thing from this email, the points above would be it.

2. Talking is easy:

You have value to provide, and you gained knowledge about something, but now, how do you communicate?

Find people your size.

Hate to break it to you, but size(followers) does matter, when connecting with a new person, no guy with 50K followers will reply to your DM if you are just starting out, you need to find people at the same stage as you.

Example: If I have 8000 followers right now, I will not try to network with someone having 500k followers on Twitter, I will find people with 6-10K followers and DM them if I had to.

I hope you got it, it’s simple, but tough, think about it.

3. Break the ice sooner:

Last, but not the least, you need to start being friendlier from the start.

What many people do is, maintain a formal tone all the time and never break the ice by talking to the other person as a friend.

If I know somebody for almost a month, and have been engaging with them regularly, I will break the ice of being just a Twitter “bro“ sooner and take the relationship to the next level.

Hop on calls, ask about what they do outside of Twitter, and initiate the friendlier arc of your story sooner.

SOOONER.

Action step:

Now, if you are really serious about growing and networking with others on Twitter, DM me, give me some advice on how I can improve my content, and what more content you would like to see.

Anything, but just mention that you came after reading the newsletter, I will 100% reply back, if I don’t, expose me on Twitter saying I don’t value my audience.

Fair enough?

Alright, we are done, my exams are finally over, I wrote this issue in one writing, which took me around 2 hours, but I love it, hope it helped.

Also, a quick update on the product(100 days journal), I am currently thinking of building a good landing page for the same, and start working sooner.

I will use React + Tailwind for it maybe, or plain CSS? (nightmare).

Anyways, that’s all for today, let’s crush the next week, have a good day/night, and keep hustling.
