What to do as a new creator on Twitter?
Hello my friend, welcome to a new issue of our conversation, you might notice, I have not been much active on Twitter lately, I have been posting tweets and threads, but not getting time to engage much with others.
Why?
End semester exams.
Maybe you know, I am in the pre-final year of my undergrad, exam season is here, late nights, 6-hour sleep schedules, no working out, sigh.
But here I am, going strong with the newsletter game, to discuss a question I get frequently in my DMs:
What to do when starting as a creator?
We talked about starting out as a new creator on Twitter, treat this as an extension to it, but a more in-depth talk and I also have some tricks that might be helpful for you, especially at the beginner stage of your journey.
Without wasting any more time, let’s get started.
The entry point:
After reading the recent issue, you finally have started with creating a profile, following some people in your niche, and engaging with people on a regular basis.
But you know what? That’s not enough.
I did this too, I was posting some tweets daily and had a personal picture as my profile header(lol), but still, it felt like there was a missing piece in the puzzle.
There are 2 types of people on Twitter:
Who have no personal brand and only post content like bots to get likes and followers
Who have genuine connection with their audience and have a good reputation, which makes an impact on other people.
Here’s a choice: You need to choose one, don’t come into my DMs saying…
But Atharva, I am posting daily, writing threads, and still not growing by 100 Followers overnight?
This is the exact reason you are not growing.
You are doing this for numbers, not connections.
I remember when I was starting, I used to fantasize about having 20-30K followers, pumping out content like a bot and not focusing on my personal brand, posting a thread every day, and wondering why wasn’t I growing.
But upon some research, I improved my approach and have the results today, what did I do differently? Let’s dive into it:
Start building friendships:
Nobody is going to give a damn about you if you left Twitter today forever, understand this?
But the only ones who will care are the friends you made. Interact with people, provide some value, and vibe with the ones you vibe with, simple.
Find a problem:
What is the problem I am solving? Building a personal brand as a developer alongside coding, and sharing my journey with you, similarly, find a good reason you are here.
It can be anything, you want to build a business, become a great developer by learning in public, get more opportunities etc.
Talk about it daily:
Now this is an action step, go to my Twitter profile, read the last 10 TWEETS/THREADS I have written, and reply to me the observation.
If you do this, I will share the 3rd secret with you personally in DMs.
Why am I sending you to do this? Because 90% of the people who read stuff like this will forget about it after some time, not taking action and just procrastinating.
I don’t want you to become one of them, everything takes effort to achieve, and no one is going to spoon-feed you success, remember that.
TLDR;
Find friends and people with common interests
Find a problem and try to solve it yourself
Talk about it daily
Well, I gotta go now, in a bit of a hurry because of exams, but trying my best to provide you with some value about what I know.
No plugs today ;), take care, bye!
