This technique taught me a lesson

I review my progress for the month, every month-end, by sitting quietly for around an hour by myself.

Total silence.

No internet, no texting, no music, just my journal and a pen.

Following the same routine, on 31st December, I sat down and took a look at what I had checked off from the goal list, and what I left incomplete.

Out of 12 goals, I only completed 4.

YES.

I failed, miserably.

I felt disgusting, and frustrated, wishing that somehow, I could go back in time, and complete all the goals again.

But of course, that’s impossible(for now).

So what can I do?

PLAN FOR THE NEXT MONTH.

Improving is the only way out, but blind planning is a time waste, set goals that are beyond your reach, is the only way to break your potential.

What most people do is write down such high goals that they seem impossible.

And because they seem impossible, you think they are unachievable, and then you give up.

This is the cycle most people are stuck in.

But let me give you a simple system to stick to whenever you are setting goals.

True, setting unrealistic goals is the way to break your potential, but breaking them down into small, chunks, is another crucial part.

Let’s dive into it.

By now, I have done 3 things:

  1. Set up a habit tracker, which lets me stay on track with my self-improvement journey.

  2. Set yearly goals for 2024

  3. Divided them for the first Quarter (3 months)

The next thing I do is use my 100DaysOfCode journal, which has a tracker to document my progress every day.

The ultimate coding system

(You can find it at the end of the email)

And now, I do 2 things:

  1. Set monthly goals

  2. Divide them for the first week.

See what I did there?

  • Set yearly goals

  • Divide them into quarters

  • Divide it monthly

  • Divide it into a week

And guess what I am gonna do now?

Divide the weekly goals for a day.

THIS IS HOW YOU WIN.

Everyone is telling you to ‘dream big’, ‘set huge goals’, and ‘aim for the moon’, but does anybody tell you a system for goal setting?

I bet not.

Another perk of joining “The Coderpreneur” ;)

Joking.

Now you know exactly how to set goals and divide them into chunks so you achieve them, step-by-step.

Before going, this is just a small snippet about goal setting which you can use to set effective goals.

But The 100DaysOfCode Journal contains 8 such modules that can skyrocket your coding journey.

I hope you got some inspiration out of this one.
